Macroeconomic data, RBI policy to drive markets this week, say analysts

Domestic equity markets would be driven by macroeconomic data, quarterly earnings, and RBI interest rate decision this week, analysts said. Global trends and the pace of vaccination would also guide the local equities, they added. "In the week ahead, the key event in the domestic market will be the announcement of RBI's monetary policy decision. To give a view on economic recovery, the market awaits the release of manufacturing and service PMI data," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services. Among major earnings announcements, HDFC, PNB, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, Bank Of India, Bharti Airtel, State Bank Of India, and M&M would release their financial results. Nirali Shah, Head of equity research, Samco Securities, said, "The RBI's MPC meeting is scheduled for the coming week. Institutional buyers put in Rs 870 cr of bids for HUDCO share sale

Institutional investors on Tuesday placed bids worth over Rs 870 crore in the government's 8 per cent share sale in HUDCO. Institutional investors put in bids for over 19.40 crore shares against the base issue size of more than 9.90 crore shares. At the indicative price of Rs 45.03 apiece, the bids put in by institutional bidders are valued at over Rs 870 crore. "The OFS of HUDCO got good response on Day one. Issue subscribed nearly two times of base size by non-retail investors. Government has decided to exercise the green-shoe option, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey tweeted. The government is selling up to 8 per cent stake sale in HUDCO at a floor price of Rs 45 apiece. Bids would open for retail investors on Wednesday. The sale of over 16.01 crore shares, or a total of 8 per cent stake, would fetch around Rs 720 crore to the exchequer. ESAF Small Finance Bank has filed preliminary papers with capital markets regulator Sebi to raise Rs 998 crore through an initial public offer (IPO). Sensex rises over 150 points in early trade, Nifty crosses 15,850

Equity benchmark Sensex surged over 150 points in early trade on Tuesday, tracking gains in index majors HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Tata Steel amid a positive trend in global markets. The 30-share BSE index was trading 155.51 points or 0.29 per cent higher at 53,007.78 in initial deals, while the broader NSE Nifty rose 48.15 points or 0.30 per cent to 15,872.60.
